Winsen's Canvases

Primer development is critical and on-going. The ground layers which form the base of any painting must satisfy many criteria, including good adhesion to the cloth, flexibility, longevity, luminosity, good tooth and an overall ability to work on and paint easily without been overly absorbent.

John Smith's Art World has been massively helpful during this process, testing different primer formulations we are currently experimenting with. These two delightful artworks (among others) are the result and it is always pleasing to see a superbly completed piece. Thanks John for the comments. The critical feed-back is certainly useful in working toward developing a Stretched Cotton Duck canvas that paints like a linen.

A big thanks to Inanda Page too who shares the same philosophy of improvement and experimentation; through her work and critical eye much needed advice has been provided.

Our reliance on critique from any artist working on our canvases can never be undervalued - it drives improvement with the product and ultimately the final artwork.
