Boards Artist’s Boards are constructed using different board types – sealed or with canvas stretched over them. Find out more

This is tooltip content

The choice of board thickness will depend on the size needed; thinner boards are lighter but flexible, while increasing board thickness adds to the overall stiffness of the support structure, but are heavier and more cumbersome to handle. Boards are also limited in dimensions to 1220 x 2440mm, or 1830 x 2750mm depending on the board type – check with the office to confirm.

A good practice is to laminate a backing frame to the board (or cradle), giving the panel a visually appealing depth perception, but also importantly adding strength. This combined with crossbars ensures a support that will not twist or buckle in the centre. Any depth can be custom manufactured.

Covering(Required)

The artist can work on the board directly, provided the surface is adequately sealed, or choose to have Cotton Duck or Polyester Cloth, or even a Belgian Linen stretched over the board.
